The Amigos de Pamplona group originated in the early 70's in Southern California. It was started by a number of bullfighting aficionados and regular visitors to La Fiesta de San Fermin, held each July in Pamplona, the capital of Navarra, Spain. This motley crew consisted of both American and international men and women whose mutual bond was a love of the culture of Spain, the Basque region and respect for taurine traditions. The members realized that they could not wait a full year to see each other, so Los Amigos Reunion was created, a three-day event held in March. Eventually, the informal HQ of the group moved to Coconut Grove, FL under the tutelage of Pleas Campbell from the 80's to the 2000's. The spirit of that group lives strong today through the next generation of Amigos. The reunion is now held in Fort Lauderdale, FL and has grown into an epic four-day celebration.
